The team from Carefound Home Care in Wilmslow have raised over £420 for Alzheimer’s Society by completing the Glow Manchester night walk.
Hayley Gill and Gemma Thomson from Carefound Home Care joined over 1,000 people taking part in the annual event which sees participants encouraged to accessorise with glitter, neon and glow sticks and celebrate changing the future for people living with dementia with a party atmosphere.
The night walk took place at Media City in Manchester on Saturday, 18 March and involved a 5km route around the Salford quayside area.
Hayley and Gemma were inspired to take part in the fundraising walk by the experience they have at Carefound Home Care of providing specialist support to families affected by dementia. They raised £424 between them for Alzheimer’s Society, well beyond their original target of £200.
Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in the Cheshire area, Chantelle Day, said:
“Everyone at Alzheimer’s Society would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Carefound Home Care in Wilmslow for their enthusiastic participation at our Glow Manchester event.”
“It was really inspirational to see so many people come together on the night, from families, friends and dedicated professional care teams - everyone who is working so hard to make life better for people living with dementia.”
“The £420 the team raised will contribute to our work to make sure that everyone affected by dementia can get the help they need. And we look forward to seeing all of our supporters in Cheshire wearing their Forget Me Not badges during the month of May when we’ll be working hard to raise awareness of dementia right across the UK.”
Hayley Gill, Registered Branch Manager at Carefound Home Care in Wilmslow, said:
“As care professionals we see the impact that dementia can have on individuals and their families every day, so fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society is close to our hearts.”
“It was great being able to take part in the Glow Manchester walk together and seeing everyone dressed up and wearing glow sticks in aid of people living with dementia was lovely to see.”
“We are very proud to have raised over £420 which we hope will make a difference in working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.”
