It was revealed today (Friday 24 January 2025) that Congleton will represent the North West in the 2025 RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals in the Best Overall Large Town category!
This incredible achievement follows Congleton securing Gold in the Best Large Town North West category and clinching the prestigious title of Overall Best Large Town in the North West!
Announced at an awards ceremony last October, these remarkable successes have officially earned Congleton its place in the RHS Britain in Bloom National Finals, putting the town firmly in the spotlight as one of the best in the country.
Cllr David Brown, Chair of Congleton in Bloom, shared his excitement and gratitude:
“Taking Congleton to the national stage is an incredible honour, and this achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. From our volunteers to our community partners and streetscape team, this is a true team effort. Under the leadership of the excellent In Bloom committee, we’ve kept our town blooming. Whether we’re planting, deadheading, or just weeding a flowerbed, we’re working together, outdoors, in the company of like-minded people, for the good of the whole town. It’s so rewarding to receive positive comments from local people and visitors alike. We can’t wait to represent the North West at the Britain in Bloom finals in 2025!”
With this win under its belt, Congleton in Bloom is now looking ahead to the national finals. The national judges will visit Congleton in August, and preparations are already underway. The group is calling on local residents to join their efforts to keep the town looking its best. Whether you're passionate about planting, weeding, or supporting the community, there’s a role for everyone. “We need everyone’s help,” said Cllr David Brown. “Please contact us if you’d like to get involved. Together, we can make Congleton shine even brighter on the national stage.”
The North West in Bloom Judges visited Congleton last August to assess the town’s floral displays based on environmental impact, community engagement, and horticultural excellence. Their three-hour whistle-stop tour showcased the town’s many floral highlights, including Astbury Mere, the community garden, Congleton Park, town centre hanging baskets and planters, the Children’s Back-to-Back Gardens, and the town’s numerous wildflower planting areas.
