Local people are being encouraged to comment on Congleton’s draft Neighbourhood Plan, which sets out plans and policies to take Congleton through to 2030.
The Town Council has opted to launch an eight-week rather than the traditional six-week consultation, meaning you have until Monday 9 December to make your comments.
Statutory consultees such as English Heritage and the utilities companies will be invited to comment on the policy and plans, as well as local residents, businesses, groups and organisations. The Neighbourhood Plan team must consider all feedback and where appropriate amend the plan before submitting it to Cheshire East Council for further scrutiny.
David McGifford, Congleton Town Council’s Chief Officer who chairs the Congleton Neighbourhood Plan Development Working Group said:
“We believe the policies in this draft Neighbourhood Plan will benefit Congleton, but it is vital that we now get the views of as many people as possible. We want to ensure that local people, organisations and stakeholders agree that this is the right vision for Congleton.”
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Kay Wesley added:
“This is not a council plan, this is a community plan that belongs to Congleton. It sets out how Congleton residents want our town to be in the future. What to change and what to preserve and protect for future generations and how the town should develop. We really want and need people to read the plan and tell us what they think.”
The consultation period starts on Monday 14 October and continues until Monday 9 December. Copies of the plan and the evidence for the plans can be viewed at:
www.congletonneighbourhoodplan.co.uk.
Paper copies are available to view in Congleton Library, Congleton Leisure Centre, at many community centres and hubs and the Congleton Information Centre in the Town Hall.
Local people are encouraged to either complete the survey which can be found on the website or by scanning the QR code.
Alternatively comments can be emailed to:

Those completing the survey can opt to enter into a free prize draw where prizes of £100, £50 and £40 will be awarded on the 13 December. To enter the prize draw fill in the contact detail at the end of the survey.
