Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), their families, and the professionals who work with them are once again being asked to share their views and experiences to help improve services and support.
The Cheshire East 0-25 SEND Partnership is conducting a survey to hear from service users and anyone who contributes to the delivery of SEND services for children and young people aged 0 – 25.
Councillor Carol Bulman, chair of Cheshire East Council’s children and families committee, stated:
“We conduct this survey regularly and have gained valuable insights that have shaped our work. Previously we learned there was a need for more information on next steps, such as moving to high school, college, internships, or apprenticeships. This feedback led us to make important changes, including our SEND transitions team developing transition booklets and holding ‘Planning Your Future’ events.
“We value everyone’s contributions and are eager to hear your opinions as they are essential for us to understand what we need to improve and how we can better support children and young people with SEND. Together, we can make a real difference to their outcomes.”
The survey has been created using the TOGETHER principles which is the partnerships shared definition of coproduction in Cheshire East. These principles set out how partners will work together as equal partners to improve, develop and deliver services towards a common goal for all children, young people, families and adults.
It has been designed with the help of the Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum to be as easy as possible and asks questions about SEN support, EHCPs and how things are working for children and young people with SEND. There are separate sets of questions for children and young people, parents and carers and professionals. The survey can be completed anonymously and should only take 10 to 15 minutes.
The survey opens on Wednesday, February 12th and will close on Wednesday, March 5th.
