Officers are looking to identify the driver of a car that was pursued following an illegal car meet that occurred in March.
At around 3.15pm on Saturday 15 March, officers attended an illegal car meet in the London Road area of Wilmslow and requested a blue BMW M5 to stop.
However the M5 failed to do so, instead driving directly at attending officers before fleeing the scene at speed.
A pursuit was authorised, with officers following the vehicle out of the area and towards Holmes Chapel. The vehicle was witnessed driving dangerously and at high speeds, overtaking traffic, causing damage to other vehicles, and actively avoiding officers' attempts to stop it.
Despite their best efforts, officers would lose sight of the car, later finding and recovering it abandoned at an address in Sandbach.
Officers are now conducting a number of enquiries to identify the driver of the BMW and are now appealing to anyone with any information, video or dashcam footage which may aid them in their investigation to get in touch.
Chief Inspector Zoe Bowden, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said:
"We do not tolerate dangerous or anti-social driving of any kind within our county and a number of enquiries are already underway to identify the driver of the blue BMW M5 that actively failed to stop for officers and evaded them during a pursuit through country lanes and villages, putting the lives of other road users and pedestrians at risk.
"From what we have seen, there were large number of people attending the car meet over the weekend, who will have filmed and photographed the cars, so we are confident that someone will have picked up who was behind the wheel of this distinctive looking vehicle and help us identify them.
"With that in mind, I would like to appeal to anyone who has any photos, videos or dashcam footage of the car in question, or has any information on who the driver in question was, to get in touch.
"I would directly address the driver themselves and urge them to do the right thing and contact police."
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any video footage which may aid the investigation is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101, or at:
