Volunteers Invited to join the Community Town Tidy Initiative

Congleton in Bloom is rallying its residents for a community-wide effort to spruce up the town and foster a cleaner, greener environment.

Organisers are extending an open invitation to eager volunteers to a series of ‘Town Tidy’ events with the next one set to take place on Saturday 4 May 2024 in Congleton Park from 10am-12pm.

The initiative aims to unite community members of all ages and backgrounds in a collective effort to beautify public spaces, parks, streets, and neighbourhoods. Whether it's picking up litter, planting flowers, or painting benches, there are countless ways for volunteers to contribute to the rejuvenation of the town.

The Congleton Park Town Tidy coincides with the RHS BIG Seed Sow Campaign. Volunteers will receive their wildflower seeds for scattering, which will not only add bursts of colour and fragrance but will provide insect-friendly habitats so that more insects can fly, jump and flutter across the park. Participants will be provided with all equipment and no experience is necessary as members of the In Bloom team will be on hand offering advice and guidance.

Congleton In Bloom Chair, Cllr David Brown said:

"We believe that a clean and well-maintained environment not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our town but also fosters a sense of pride and belonging among residents. By coming together as a community, we can create a lasting impact and inspire others to take ownership of their surroundings. We encourage everyone, young and old, to join us for a morning of camaraderie, it’s a great way to forge new friendships, get out in the fresh air and enjoy the greats outdoors.”

Residents interested in volunteering for this event can sign up beforehand or simply turn up on the day. All volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, bring water bottles, and be prepared to roll up their sleeves!
